Ann was born to Frederick Augustus and Amelia Wiedhofft on the 21st May 1859 in 4 Temple St. Dalston, Hackney, London

This was the address given for the birth of another brother William Alfred on 14th May 1861.

The summer of 1863 saw the birth of another baby brother (Arthur) but sadly he was to pass away in the spring of 1864.

Sister Louisa Florence was born in the March quarter of 1865 in the St Lukes parish of Holborn.

In the last quarter of 1873 Ann's mother (Amelia) died.


On the 5th July 1875 sister Amelia married Charles Alfred Cooper at Holloway Congregational Church

Ann's father remarried (Emma Huntsman) about 6 months later on the 5th July 1875.


17th June 1876 sister Mary (aged 24) married certificated school master David Salmon (also 24) in Islington Register Office, North London.

Sister Mary Salmon gives birth to another daughter Mary about 1880 in Peckham.

The early part of 1881 saw the birth of nephew (Mary Salmon’s) son David.

We find Ann as a 21 year old schoolmistress living in Camberwell with her sister Mary (Salmon) and family in 1881.

On the 28th December 1891 Annie’s father (Frederick Augustus) died and David Salmon was named as an executor and trustee in his will.


In the September quarter of 1894 Ann married John Henry Gough in Swansea, Wales (Note: brother-in-law David Salmon became principal of the teacher training college in Swansea in 1892 and I guess that Ann (a school teacher) had made her way there and met up with John H)

Apr 1919 son John was made a temporary 2nd Lieutenant - London Gazette

Ann died in the June quarter of 1928 Registered in Bristol Gloucestershire (6a 26) age 69


John Henry died on 11 December 1930 in Gloucester aged about 72

Son John Wiedhofft Gough was to go on to become a Fellow of Oriel College, Oxford and produce many books including:- Fundamental Law in English Constitutional History; The Social Contract. A critical study of its development; Sir Hugh Myddelton. Entrepreneur and engineer & The Superlative Prodigall. A life of Thomas Bushell.
