About Us Key information for athletes 2007/8 (information needs checking) Training Members have exclusive use of the track and associated equipment on Club nights, which are Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.00pm all year round. Our under 11 athletes will use these facilities from 6.00pm until 7.00pm, Road Runners 6.30pm - 7.30pm, everyone else 7.00pm - 8.00pm.on the same evenings. The cost of training is currently (January 2008) 80p for juniors and £1.50 for seniors (Reviewed annually at the AGM) This covers the cost of hiring the facility and gives you access to free coaching. Training on Club nights is reserved for members, however you are allowed three Club sessions for appraisal before you are required to join the Club. Coaching The Club has a robust coaching structure but is always seeking improvements. all our coaches are qualified. Training requirements are regularly reviewed.The Club Liaises with the County and Borough Councils in it's work promoting athletics in schools and the local community. MembershipThe costs for membership for 2007/8 is £30, £40..£50, £51.50 & £35.50 (£5 increase across the board) due to levy imposed by UK Athletics. As the Club is affiliated to all the regional and national associations this entitles you to compete in the respective competitions. Training on Club nights is reserved for members, however you are allowed three Club sessions for appraisal before you are required to join the Club. Teams & Competitions The teams and their managers are detailed on the committee page.. Details of the dates and venues of the various league fixtures and other competitions are contained in the fixture list. Travel to the main league matches is partly subsidised at £5 for both adults and children & £12.50 for families with 3 or more members. The only other expense involved is the purchase of team kit consisting of a royal blue vest and red shorts. Available from Club Kit Sales at the track on training nights. Management The Club is managed by the executive committee, who are voted in at the Annual General Meeting in November of each year. The executive committee, together with other volunteers, fill the various positions enabling the Club to function. We are always grateful for extra help and look to new members and/or their families to contribute in some way. The list of nominated officers shows just how few people are actually keeping the Club going. Officials No athletics meeting can take place without a number of officials. The Club has a group of qualified officials and willing helpers, and prides itself on the standard of meetings that it runs, and the help it provides to other clubs throughout Sussex. Social Events A number of social gatherings are arranged throughout the year, together with fund raising events to which all members, their families and friends are invited. An annual awards evening is the highlight of the year, at which outstanding performances and commitment to the Club are rewarded by trophies and medals for al age groups and disciplines. Special Notice: Inhalers Any athlete that needs to use an inhaler for health purposes needs to complete a form and send it back to UK Athletics. A number of outstanding athletes began their careers at Hastings and gone on to achieve national recognition. |
